Call me an idealist, but I do believe that in every human being, there is a potential to shine. I believe there is a space for everyone out there to exist with a deep sense of purpose in life, with their personality, skills and heart aligned. During our 2nd webtorial, I was deeply impacted by this quote that Coach Mel shared.

“A good coach can change a game. A great coach can change a life.”
– John Wooden

While I am not into sports, I understand that a sports coach can mean the world of a difference to an athlete under training. But more than just honing skills, a coach has the ability to change the course of a life.

What an amazing thought. But in order to do that, the coach must first believe in the coachee’s potential. We can all be diamonds, but first, we need some polishing. In my life, I have encountered so many people who have shaped me to be the person I am today. I have had counsellors who gave me advice on how to move on from past hurts or problems. I also had mentors who guided me so I could learn and apply business skills or spiritual lessons to my life.

Two years ago, I had the privilege of experiencing coaching for the first time when I attended a team building event with a business networking group. As I listened to the webtorial, it became clear that these roles are actually quite different and we do need to experience counselling, mentoring and coaching at various stages of our lives.

But what truly excites me about coaching is the potential to change lives. It really resonates with my entire being. This idea motivates me! As I am still being polished, I hope to have the privilege of doing the same for others.
